Behind the Scenes with the DDC

Full-day workshop • June 25th
Go behind the scenes with the DDC and learn about Aaron’s process for creating marks, logos and more. Each student will attack a logo on their own with guidance from Aaron. Could be something you are currently working on, or have always wanted to make.

Aaron will also share his signature tips, tricks, tales and threats throughout the workshop. The workshop will be six hours, lunch and refreshments will be provided. Bring a laptop, pencil and an iron will. DDC door and prizes to all who attend! From sketch, to vector, to iterations and completion: Come make a logo the DDC way.

What You Will Learn in This Workshop:

Designing a Logo from sketch, to vector, to iterations and completion
Learn how to develop and refine your own signature
Visual hierarchy, whitespace and composition
Revisting colour theory

What hardware/software do you need?

Please bring a laptop with you favorite illustration / design software. This is a workshop for people of all skill levels. There will be no programming. We’ll be talking about design methods and ideas. Please bring your favorite pencil if you have one. Notebooks will be provided.

Time & Location

This full-day workshop will be hosted at the Ivey Tangerine Leadership Centre and will take place before the two days of Smashing Conference. The workshop will be running from 9:30am to 5:30pm on Monday, June 25th.
